Lee Hi’s new song Rose ranks the top on music charts for two days in a row.
Her new song from her first solo album was revealed to the public on March 28 at noon through different music websites.
Rose, in just two hours after it was unveiled, went viral, sweeping across different music charts. On March 29 at seven o’clock, Rose was already at the top in Mnet, Olleh Music, Soribada, Busgs, Daum Music and Naver Music.
This already hugely popular song is a fruit of two of YG’s best producers Teddy and Song Baekkyung from 1Tym. Rose falls into R&B House genre, and this is the first time the rookie artist showing a YG-style song.
The song goes like this: “My love is like a red rose/it may be beautiful now/ but my sharp thorns will hurt you. My love is like a red rose/yes, I may be fragrant/but the closer you get/the more I’ll hurt you”. It exquisitely describes love that is both beautiful and hurtful.
Rose best shows the perfect combination of Lee Hi’s mid-low tone with a touch of pure voice at the beginning of the song. This song is a testament to the talents and potential of Lee Hi, as near the chorus she even shows off her rhythmical rap skills.
The music video for Rose was revealed at 6p.m. on March 28, and this is also becoming hot. In the video Lee Hi’s feministic looks are strengthened, to describe a woman of fantasy. Among her 10 different rose-related outfits, the one with artificial thorns all over Lee Hi stands out most.
